Let us consider the possibility that it’s not racially insensitive to want to redefine the requirements for citizenship in the 14th amendment. Let us also consider the historical context of the 14th amendment. There was open immigration in 1868, which means that there were no illegal immigrants.
The purpose of the amendment was to ensure that African Americans born in the United States were guaranteed the right of citizenship. It was commonly understood to be the case, as affirmed by Senator Jacob Howard in 1866:

As Obama completed his tour through five states yesterday, two contradicting themes were made clear: Democrats have accomplished a lot and Republicans have stopped them from doing anything.
Monday night Obama told a fundraiser in Holywood this:
“We have been able to deliver the most progressive legislative agenda — one that helps working families — not just in one generation, maybe two, maybe three.”

I stress this point because it is relevant to the whole debate. There is no defense for illegal activity, only mitigating circumstances can lessen the degree of the infraction. These are best left to individual cases and their individual merits.

The body of Rancher Rob Krentz and his dog were found shot to death on his ranch. Krentz, who always was good-natured and willing to help people, had called in that he had found an illegal alien at one of his watering holes and was assisting him. That was the last that was heard from him before his body was discovered.

Cardinal Roger Mahony honestly makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that he even showed up to a pro-illegal
immigration rally in Los Angeles should raise an alarm with the average person. Then, he makes the egregious comparison to Nazi Germany as reported in the L.A. Times:
