In order to stop Obama you have to give his Congress the pink slip, by A.H. Furlong
The President of the United States is on the campaign trail, but not for his own job, just for his ‘own’ Congress. He’s travelled from Buffalo, New York to San Francisco, California trying to make a plea for the citizens of this great nation to stay on board with him through what he claims is a terrible tide that’s going to get better. Like the jobless recovery he’s hoping to just convince us all that everything is going to be hunky dory until he’s long since gone, and hopefully only remembered for nothing more than an ill gotten Nobel prize.
Even if you don’t go in for politics you have to wonder why the President would be stumping for Harry Reid and others. Well it’s simple – the game is up and he at least has figured that much, without commissioning a task force to take 6 months to investigate, and create a report about it. Millions of Americans are fed up with what’s going on and he has all of a sudden decided to react by stumping for his one and only ally. It’s arrogant sure, but isn’t that one of his best traits?
President Obama came into office on the auspicious tide of change. Too bad my neighbors never asked him to stipulate what he actually thought ‘change’ meant. Obviously the President and the American people were, and are, not in sync on that topic. He thought change meant saving every insolvable business on Wall Street while main street went with hat in hand begging to stay alive, and more often then not going under. The President obviously never learned that you have to be particular when borrowing. Instead he just sat there while very wealthy folks filled his campaign coffers and blackberry, and now we wonder why he didn’t do anything for us other than to extend unemployment benefits; albeit to aid that jobless recovery. Can anyone really wonder that anymore? Probably not, but yet it doesn’t feel very good to say ‘I told you so’.
President Obama started his flight of fantasy with a great big stimulus package which was supposed to stave off disaster from happening. Yet again nobody seemed to understand who would be helped out of the disaster. Now we know that the $838.2 billion stimulus bill was ear marked from the get-go to bail out everyone who really contributed to the economic disaster in the first place. And yes that’s what it is. We are not in a recession or a depression, but a disaster, and all he did was help the culprits. Make no mistake the stimulus bill will not fix the economy nor with the financial reform bill enact financial reform, they will merely buy those who lost some valuable time, while hopefully the economy fixes itself, which is what economies do and have done from time immemorial.
He thought Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were worth salvaging but not the hundreds of thousands of families destroyed by the very place they called home. Well, they are not calling it home anymore. The miserable lot of poor folks, who we learned to despise, through a media campaign against them, are up and leaving their investments just like the affluent who can afford them. Foreclosures are up amongst the affluent. Those who can pay are also just walking away: The housing market is going further south. Small banks are failing at the rate of 13 a month since January, that’s 90+ so far but the big banks, who were obviously too big to fail and could get the Presidents ear, are not and are thinking of new ways to prey on the consumer and commercial borrower for their great and unwarranted good. He bailed out the automakers and kicked in incentives but just as the incentives ran out, the recalls began, and more of the automakers are buying up lenders so they can go and get themselves back into more unreasonable debt. He sat by and watched, or played golf, while the southern coast of the United States became inundated with a tide of oil from a drilling well. Sure it was an accident but he should’ve been able to respond in less than 41+ days and counting. I mean would you let your backyard burn for months on end and then do nothing more significant than to ask the neighbors if they could come up with some explanations – say in 6 months?
He revised health care but didn’t improve it at all; he simply allowed loop holes through which very greedy participants, in the fiasco that is the American Health care industry, could keep on charging more, and finally, to add insult to injury, he snuck Donald Berwick MD in, under the wire, to inflict rationed care upon the American public. The American public who is supposed to be the beneficiary of the greatest health care in the known world, unfortunately, it’s only great for those who can afford it.
The President of the United States is absent, in mind and spirit, folks. Sure he fooled you once but please don’t let him fool you again. He has done nothing to help the American taxpayer, the American citizen. He is there on our dime, even with all the influential bedfellows he claims to have. Without us, he is nothing. We must take away the legislative power he so arbitrarily invokes every time his loquacious, but totally inexperienced cabinet comes up with a brilliant idea about enacting a new world order. You have been sufficiently forewarned that this ship we sail upon is going down, if we do not change course and rapidly. We are not too big to fail and, if this man is our captain, then we will fail. If we can’t stop him then at least cut the sails by voting out those democrats up for re-election and let the ship float adrift for a while until a real, tangible solution manifests itself.
